Welcome to the fat mulberry

Set in the tranquil farmlands of the Eastern Free State, the Fat Mulberry Guest Farm offers luxurious self-catering accommodation with breath-taking views of the Maluti Mountains. We can host intimate functions for approximately 40 guest in our venue, The Shed.

With five four-star apartments to choose from, we have the perfect option for all. Family and friend get togethers, romantic getaways, guests travelling with pets can stay in our pet-friendly unit, known as The Gate House. We can also accommodate business people with a conference facility.

Weddings & events

The Shed, at the Fat Mulberry Guest Farm, is the perfect place for celebrations and fun events. The large glass window overlooks the Maluti Mountains. It is a great venue for intimate weddings, workshops, birthdays, kitchen teas, brunches, concerts and retreats. The Shed can accommodate approximately 40 guests.

The Hot pot

Step into relaxation at Fat Mulberry Guest Farm with our private, wood-heated hot tub, affectionately known as The Hot Pot. Immerse yourself in the soothing warmth of the tub while soaking in breathtaking views of the majestic Maluti Mountains.

Meet Our Farm Family

At The Fat Mulberry, guests of all ages can get in touch with nature and meet our animal family. Come say hello to our horses, River and Willow, Mowca the donkey, Clover the cow, and our friendly sheep and goats. The farm is always bustling with chickens, geese, ducks, dogs, and cats! Guests are welcome to feed them apples and carrots after feeding time—just please arrange a time with Margie first.

"Perfect for self-catering. If you are travelling during the winter months, there are heated blankets and a fireplace with everything you need to start a warm cozy fire. There are a few restaurants nearby in Fouriesburg and Clarens is a quick 25 minute drive away. The Caledonspoort Border Control post to Lesotho is just 15 minutes away making it a perfect stop over if you're headed that way. There are facilities for braaing, a fire pit and a wonderful view of the mountains. The hosts are friendly and accommodating."

The host Margie was so attentive and assisted us with which roads to drive to get safely to the guesthouse. Apart form that we were greeted with such friendly and warm hospitality. We stayed in the gate house apartment and it had all the amenities that we needed to have a very relaxing stay. Our boys loved the property and especially enjoyed feeding the animals."

The views are incomparably lovely and the light on the mountains in the distance changes the vista as the day progresses providing a spectacular sunset show. The animals and play area are great for children to watch. The decor is whimsical and the furniture beautifully maintained. The touches in the garden provide many areas to relax and unwind. Clarens is less than 30 minutes away. Thanks to our host Margie, we loved every minute!"
